使用定語從句翻譯句子

定語從句是修飾限定名詞或代詞的從句。掌握定語從句的關鍵在于把握引導詞，即用來引導定語從句的詞。英語中的定語從句主要分兩大類：限制性定語從句和非限制性定語從句。
定語從句主要采用以下幾種類型及其翻譯：
1.一般型
這種結構是最普遍的，即使用定語從句來修飾要修飾的先行詞。
在中文中，一般地說，要使用定語修飾一個對象，無論是單獨使用幾個修飾詞，還是連續使用幾個是修飾詞，通常都放在所修飾詞的前面。在英語中，單詞作定語時，一般放在所修飾的先行詞之前，而詞組，短語和從句作定語時，則放在所修飾的先行詞之后。如果漢語的兩個句子具有相同的關鍵詞，這是我們可以使用定語從句來翻譯其中的一個句子。
例如：Yesterday he bought an English dictionary which is help to improve his English.
譯文: 昨天他買了一本英語字典，這本英語字典對于提高他的英語水平很有幫助。
全句的賓語是"英語字典"，英語里修飾 an English dictionary的成分在其后面，這是英語表達習慣所規定的。但是轉換成漢語時，就必須把定語修飾成分提前到中心詞"英語字典"之前。
2.there be結構/it be +主語+定語從句
有些漢語句子可以使用there be/it be +主語+定語從句結構翻譯，漢語中的謂語部分在英語中要變成從句的形式。定語從句的謂語在形式上其實也是整個主句的謂語，因此在英譯漢時可將其譯為主謂結構的簡單句。
例如：There are many college students who dropped out of school because of poverty.
譯文：現在很多大學生因為貧困而輟學。
全句的謂語是"輟學"，如果沒有要求，要表達譯文的意思，完全可以使用Many students dropped out of school because of poverty.當然也可以使用現代分詞dropping out of school because of poverty修飾students。再者就考慮使用定語從句來修飾students。
3.帶介詞的定語從句
當“動詞+介詞”的短語結構出現在定語從句中，介詞常和從句的引導詞一起引導定語從句，此時的引導詞只能使用which和whom。根據邏輯的需要，在翻譯前，我們首先應該弄清關系詞所指代的內容，進而按照先行詞的詞義來進行翻譯。
The boy to whom I just spoke is my brother.
譯文：我剛才和他談話的那個男孩是我弟弟。
正常語序為I spoke to a boy，the boy is my brother。先行詞為the boy，spoke to 為謂語，因此采用spoke to whom 進行翻譯。
1.翻譯定語從句句子
1). Everything that is around us is matter. 我們周圍的一切都是物質
2). He is the only one among us that knows French. 他是我們中唯一懂法語的人。
3). I know the reason why he came late. 我知道他來遲的原因。
4). Certain ideas, principles, and laws often form the foundation on which other ideas, principles and laws of a science are constructed. 一些思想、原則和法律往往會成為其他思想、原則和法律賴以形成的基礎。
5). Stainless steels must contain a minimum of 10% chromium. This is the reason why they are stainless. 不銹鋼至少要含有10%的鉻，這就是不銹鋼不生銹的原因。
6). Electrical energy that is supplied to a lamp can be turned into light energy. 供照明的電能可以轉化為光能。
7). An electric field is a space where an electric force exists. 電場就是電力存在的空間。
8). The house whose roof was damaged has now been repaired. 屋頂壞了的房子現在已經修好。
9). Shanghai is the place where he was born. 上海是他出生的地方。

2.翻譯定語從句句子
1). Silver is a conductor, which allows electric current to flow easily. 銀是一種導體，它可以讓電流很容易地通過。
2). Days and nights are very long on the moon, where one day is as long as two weeks on the earth. 月球上的白天和黑夜都相當長，那里的一天等于地球上的兩周。

3.翻譯定語從句句子
