英語詞匯from的用法

from的用法
1. 注意不要因漢語習(xí)慣的影響，誤用 from：
自1990年以來他直住在這里。
正：He has lived here since 1990.
誤：He has lived here from 1990.
太陽從東方升起，從西方落下。
正：The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
誤：The sun rises from in the east and sets from the west.
展覽會將從星期三開始。
正：The exhibition will begin on Monday.
誤：The exhibition will begin from Monday.
2. 其后可接副詞或介詞短語。如：
It’s a short distance from here. 從這兒去不遠(yuǎn)。
The cat jumped out from under the bed. 貓從床底下跳出來。
He chose three from among these books. 他從這些書當(dāng)中選了3本。
正因?yàn)榭山咏樵~短語作賓語，所以下面這句中的 from where 就不難理解了。如：
He hid himself in a tree, from where he could seethe ememy in the distance. 他躲在一棵樹上，從那兒他可以看到遠(yuǎn)處的敵人 。
3. 從今天起多久以后 ，用“一段時間+from today ” 。如：
Threeweeks from today is a holiday. 從今天起放三周假。
I’ll comeback a month from today. 我下個月的今天回來。
4. 關(guān)于 from…to…：
用于時間、地點(diǎn)、變化、數(shù)目等。如：
I worked there from Mayto August. 我從5月至8月在那兒工作。
They flew from Paris toRome. 他們坐飛機(jī)從巴黎到羅馬。
There’re from sixty to eightypeople present. 出席的有60至80人。
Things went rapidly frombad to worse. 情況很快變得越來越糟。
用于時間時，可用 from…till, until, through。如：
We workfrom Monday to [till, until, through] Friday. 我們從星期一工作到星期五。
但是若沒有 from 則不能用 to。如：
I stayed there till [until, through, up to] September. 一直到九月我都住在那兒。
用于下列習(xí)語 。如：
from side to side 從一邊到另一邊，左右
from house to house 挨家挨戶
from handto hand 從一人之手到他人之手
from door to door挨家挨戶
fromtime to time 不時地
from west to east 從西向東
from shop toshop 逐店
from day to day 一天天地
from head to foot從頭至腳，全身
from beginning to end 從頭至尾
from hand to mouth賺一點(diǎn)吃一點(diǎn)，僅能糊口
from morning to night 從早到晚
高考英語詞匯詳解：around與round的用法
1. 無論用作介詞還是副詞，around在很多情況下可與round換用：
表示“在…周圍”、“環(huán)繞”等，兩者常可互換：
They sataround [round] the fire. 他們圍坐在火的四周。
The moon turnsaround [round] the earth. 月球繞著地球轉(zhuǎn)。
He turned around[round]. 他轉(zhuǎn)過身去。
按傳統(tǒng)語法：around 表示靜態(tài)，round 表示動態(tài)。但事實(shí)上，在英國英語中，不管是動態(tài)還是靜態(tài)，多用 round;而在美國英語中，不管是動態(tài)還是靜態(tài)，多用 around。所以在正非正式文體中，兩者常可換用。
表示“到處”，兩者常可互換：
Would you like to walkaround [round] the factory this afternoon? 今天下午到工廠的各處走走好嗎?
Can I look around [round]? 我可以到處看看嗎 ?
表示“大約” ，兩者常可換用：
It costs around [round] 10 dollars. 大約要花10美元。
They arrived around [round] 5 o’clock. 他們是大約5 點(diǎn)鐘到的。
I’ll be back around [round] lunch time. 我午飯前后回來。
表示把某物分給一群人中的每一個，兩者常可換用：
Will youhand around [round] the papers? 請你把考卷分發(fā)一下。
Therearen’t enough apples to go around [round]. 蘋果分不過來。
2. around 通常只用作介詞或副詞，round 可用作介詞、副詞、名詞、形容詞等，所以用作名詞和形容詞的 round 顯然不能用 around代之。
