【語法結構】such
句中的 such 是名詞，即指代前面的 a look of fear。其后接 as 引導的定語從句加以修飾說明。表示舉例，意為“諸如此類的”、“像……那樣的”，用法同 such as 的舉例，such as 后常接名詞，也可接句子。
比較下列句子：
There are few poets such as Keats and Shelly. (such as 后接名詞)
像濟慈和雪萊這樣的詩人現在很少了。
Don’t do anything silly such as marry him. (such as 后接句子)

such + as 引導的定語從句還可用作主語或賓語。 如 such 指代人，相當于 those who; 如 such 指代物，相當于 what 或 whateve, all/anything that 等。

有知識和技能的人不愁沒有工作。
2)Such as alter in a moment win no credit in a month. (相當于those who
alter in a moment)

3)Associate with such as will improve your manner. (相當于those who will
improve your manner)
要或那些能提高你禮貌修養的人交往。
4)Such as remains after tax will be yours when I die. (相當于what remains

一、表示舉例
such as在用來表示舉例時，在用法上等同于like或for example，雙語例句：

二、用作關系代詞，引導定語從句
少數情況下，such as也可以整個用作關系代詞，用來引導定語從句，雙語例句：

三、用于such…as to do sth結構
such as在用作此結構時，可以用來表示結果，此時such是限定語，as to do sth表示的是結果。
四、用于such as it is結構
such as在用作此結構時，表示的是讓步，可以表示“盡管不怎么好”的意思。
五、表示“像…這樣的”的意思
另外such as也可以表示 “像…這樣的”的意思，此時要注意不要想當然的按照漢語意思將as替換成like。
