為什么how不能引導定語從句
關系副詞在美國英語里只有三個：when、where、why.它們引導定語從句,在從句中作的是狀語.
when引導定語從句,在從句里作時間狀語,先行詞表示時間.如：
Tuesday is the day when the garbage truck comes.
where引導定語從句,在從句里作地點狀語,先行詞表示地點,如：
I once again came to New York,where I hadnt been for ten years.
He and his family moved to Italy,from where he moved to Germany and went to university.
He has reached a point where a change is needed.
why引導定語從句,在從句中作原因狀語,先行詞只有reason.
Thats the reaon why I didnt go to college.
how不能引導定語從句,它可以作疑問副詞或縮合連接副詞使用.如果先行詞是the way,則可以用in which、that引導定語從句.如：
I dont know how I can solve the problem.
That is how he solved the problem.
That is the way in which/that he solved the problem.
定語從句
定語從句，一個簡單句跟在一名詞或代詞后（先行詞）進行修飾限定，就叫做定語從句。在主句中充當定語成分。被修飾的詞叫先行詞。定語從句不同于單詞作定語的情況，它通常只能放在被修飾的詞（即先行詞）之后。
定語 從句由關系詞（關系代詞、關系副詞）引導，關系代詞、關系副詞位于定語從句句首。
how不能,但what可以
1、 What was impossible 50 years ago may be quite possible today (這是what引導的定語從句)
== Something that was impossible 50 years ago may be quite possible today.（定語從句）
2、 How she managed to finish her hard work on time is beyond my ken.（主語從句）
== The way that / in which she finished her hard work is beyond my ken. （定語從句）
3、 She told them what she had seen there （定語從句）
== She told them all / everything that she had seen there.（定語從句）
4、 They are building a second library in what was once the school cinema..（定語從句）
== They are building a second library in the house that / which was once the school cinema. ..（定語從句）
