除夕的夜晚，媽媽給我和爸爸做了一大桌團(tuán)圓飯，我沉浸在歡樂之中。吃完了，我去看電視，正在這時(shí)，外面突然開始了“煙花大戰(zhàn)”，鞭炮爆炸的聲音讓我不得安寧，連電視都不想看了。
看著別人放鞭炮開心的樣子，我就讓爸爸帶我去外面放鞭炮。爸爸看著我羨慕的樣子，只好和我一起買鞭炮去了。買了鞭炮后，我和爸爸一起來到樓下的`空地上，爸爸拿出一個(gè)大煙花，遞給我打火機(jī)。
其實(shí)，這是我第一次親手放這種大煙花，真有點(diǎn)緊張。我的手有點(diǎn)發(fā)抖。我對(duì)自己說：“千萬別害怕，要不，我就永遠(yuǎn)不敢放鞭炮了!”我摳動(dòng)打火機(jī)，火苗從打火機(jī)里冒出來。我對(duì)準(zhǔn)導(dǎo)火線小心翼翼地將它點(diǎn)燃，“哧……”的一聲導(dǎo)火線著了，我以百米沖刺的速度沖向遠(yuǎn)方，爸爸邊笑邊叫著：“別害怕。”我不管煙花放不放，什么都不想，繼續(xù)向前跑去，一直跑到我認(rèn)為安全的地方才停下來。這時(shí)一個(gè)小火球躥上了夜空，“嘭”地在空中炸開了花，接著小火球成群結(jié)隊(duì)地一個(gè)一個(gè)躥上了天，它們?cè)谝箍罩斜M情開放!有的像一朵菊花，有的像一朵桃花，還有的像一顆顆彩色的信號(hào)彈，把那一片天空都染成彩色的了。
煙花放出來不僅很酷，還讓我膽子大了起來。我真希望明年的春節(jié)趕快到。

One legend goes that the beast Nian had a very big mouth that would swallow a GREat many people with one bite. People were very scared. One day, an old man came to their rescue, offering to subdue Nian. To Nian he said, "I hear say that you are very capable, but can you swallow the other beasts of prey on earth instead of people who are by no means of your worthy opponents?" So, it did swallow many of the beasts of prey on earth that also harrassed people and their domestic animals from time to time.
After that, the old man disappeared riding the beast Nian. He turned out to be an immortal god. Now that Nian is gone and other beasts of prey are also scared into forests, people begin to enjoy their peaceful life. Before the old man left, he had told people to put up red paper decorations on their windows and doors at each year's end to scare away Nian in case it sneaked back again, because red is the color the beast feared the most.
