　　over the past twenty years or so, great changes have taken place in our life. take my family for example. my parents contacted others mainly by sending them letters in the past. but now we call long distance at home. and once my parents listened to the radio for news and other information. but now we get the news by watching tv. another big change is in my living conditions. when they got married about twenty years ago, my parents lived in a small room crowded with fiirniture. but now we have moved into a big new three-room apartment. in short, our life has become comfortable and convenient.

　　today, i went to my old house. i lived in it two years ago. when i am at school, i often think of my old house because it made me happy in the past. my old house is very tidy but old. it has only one level and there are just two rooms in it. i slept with my mother and my father ever evening.

　　my old house is between two high houses, so it looks very small but lovely. when i lived in my old house, i often played with my sister at the weekends. but now i can’t, so i feel a little sad. two years ago, i could share my feelings with my parents too, but they were separate at last.

　　so my old house is my favourite place. if i have some trouble, i think of it and my parents, i’ll always get lots of energy. i will then forget the trouble soon. do you think my old house is a wonderful place? yes, it’s my great “palace.”

　　during the summer holidays, i went to my grandmother’s home. one evening after supper, i stood on the balcony to look at the sky.

　　the stars in the sky were twinkling. some were crowded, and others were separate. then i found that the stars were not the same colour. they were white, grey, light blue and orange. it was really beautiful. at that time, the sky was like blue damask decorated by millions of bright dimonds.

　　looking up at the sky, i saw the moon. it was like a naughty child, sometimes it hid in the clouds and sometimes it got out of the clouds. it seemed to play “hide and seek” with us. the stars around the moon, however, were as shy as girls, and hid themselves in the clouds.
