　　I don’t agree with the statement. Evidence to the contrary indicates that nowadays, it is obviously easier to identify what type of career or job would lead to a secure and successful future than in the past.

　　Firstly, along with the development of Internet, people are likely to collect information more accurately than before so that they are able to make better career decisions. In the past, it was difficult to fully comprehend a career before people have actually engaged in the profession, for no database was easily accessible to all. Consequently, people have wasted a great amount of time before they realized what they had been doing was leading them nowhere and the job would not guarantee a successful future. The situation, however, has improved over the last decade. Broadband and Wi-Fi are everywhere now and before we embark on a new career, we could visit relevant websites, post questions for answers, and even discuss with practitioners in that field online for valuable advice. The Internet has connected us to the specifics of any career so we have the opportunities to see things more clearly, to weigh the benefits against the costs before the final decision. As a result, it is easier to identify what type of career would lead us to a secure and successful future.

　　Secondly, autocracy has begun to step down all over the world. Hard and fast rules are being bent. There is greater mobility of labor between jobs and areas. For example, in the past, people in mainland China were confined to their hometown and were not allowed to travel freely to pursue their dreams in other regions and cities. If you were born in a rural backwater, you were forever a country bumpkin. Major cities like Beijing and Shanghai were like other countries. If your father was an electrician, you were almost doomed to repair wires for the rest of your life. Fortunately, the Chinese government is more democratic now. People are entitled to travel to different areas and attempt several jobs through trial and error. Hence they stand more chance to identify the job or career that are most suitable for them.

　　The above-mentioned reasons clearly show that to say it was easier to identify what type of career or job would lead to a secure and successful future in the past is utterly preposterous.
