一、文章結構
一般從體裁上劃分，獨立寫作我們都會寫成議論文，在議論文當中論點、理由、論據、結論和論證是5大關鍵要素，任何一篇議論文都離不開這5個方面。具體來說就是論點是文章的核心，理由是論點成立的依據，二者構成因果的關系;論據是對理由的具體解釋，一般都是事例;結論是對論點的重申，二者很有關聯，頭尾呼應;而論證部分始終貫穿整個文章。如果你的托福作文想要得到高分，那么這5個要素就必須面面俱到，也只有這樣才能寫出結構嚴謹、條理清晰的高分作文。特點要注意的是，在這里建議大家，在你的文章中除了這5要素之外，考生還應該在論點前做一些簡單的背景介紹，一般2-3句就可以了，目的就是為了論點造勢，讓文章看起來有層次。
二、文章內容
文章內容就是為了讓你的論點更加的明了和細化，一般都是以例子的形式出現在文章的段落當中。為了論證觀點，有時需要從幾個方面來進行闡述，這樣每個方面都形成一個分論點，這論證起來更有說服力。
舉例例子，以飲食為主題，我們可以舉例說以前食品由政府進行分配，數量是有限制的，人們不能隨心所欲的買到自己需要的食品;而現在與之前則大不一樣，現在有超市，人們可以買到任何你想要的食品。這樣新舊的對比，更加的鮮明的表現出現代社會物資一、人們的選擇權大大的增加，從而可以推斷出人們的生活越來越好、便捷、合適，從面證論點。這樣呈鮮明對比的例子就會讓讀者耳目一新，很容易就會給你高分的。
三、語言
在托福寫作中，如果一篇作文的語法正確、用詞恰當，并能準確的達意，那么得高分的機率就會大許多。縱觀各種滿分作文，我們可以總結出任何一篇高分作文都建議在語言的基礎上的。當然在這個基礎上考生可以追求更多樣、高級的表達，使得你的文章更加的豐富。
