Learning English is important for me. When I first came to the United States of America, I found out the importance of knowing English. Whenever I went to a market to buy food, to a post office to mail a letter, or to take a bus to the bank, I had to communicate in English or things would not go smoothly. The two most important reasons for learning English for me are it is for my future goal and I want to continue my studies.
First, it is for my future goal. I want to be a professional ESL teacher. I used to learn English in my country for several years but when I came to the United States, I found that my English was still very poor. Many times I couldnt understand what Americans were talking about and they couldnt understand me either. The bad pronunciation was embarrassing me but in China people didnt care about this. Second, I want to continue my studies. I believe that a person who lives needs to learn. Whether it is one language or other things. 英語作為國際通用語，其重要地位越來越得到大家的共識。因為，“我們不能忽視一個巨人的存在”（英國某語言專家語）。所以，我們要下定決心，排除萬難，掌握英語。而構建你英語大廈的基礎，就是詞匯。
1． 詞匯學習的重要性。英語能力培養程序：詞匯-語法-聽-說-讀-寫。英語高分訓練程序：詞匯-讀-寫。這兩套程序是語言學和認知學研究的成果，次序千萬不能顛倒。詞匯是基礎，是素材，是細胞，不要指望詞匯基本功不扎實的人能夠考出高分；閱讀是中國人學習外語的最佳途徑，也是目前各類外語考試的最主要題型；寫作是掌握外語，檢驗自己水平的最主要方式。有興趣的人可以參考這方面的專著。

3 . 如何運用詞典擴大詞匯量。關于辭典。詞匯的學習離不開詞典，如何選用她至關重要。我做一個Prediction ，70%的人用的是牛津和朗文。但是你如果看一下英語專業的考試大綱的話，你會發現，COLLINS COBUILD 和 WEBSTER’S COLLEGE DICTIONARY 才是最好的工具書。我用的就是后者。為什么要推薦這倆本呢？1、釋義詳細，簡練；2、提高詞匯在上下文的理解能力；3、后者還提供詞源，方便理解與記憶。
4. 詞匯量大對閱讀的幫助。閱讀有三個層次：字面意義，行間意義，言外之意。試題考察的比例一般為2：2：1。字面意義不必多說，對于行間意義和言外之意的理解，需要高超的技巧，一般的閱讀書上都有，在此我提一下篇章結構的作用。篇章結構對于解答行間意義和言外之意的提問特別有效。

很多人都認為財富宮比健康更重要。在讀到Howard Hughes的故事之前，我也是這么認為的。Howard Hughes是美國的一個億萬富翁，能得到他想得到的任何東西。但是在他生命最后的二十年中，他的身體變得很糟糕，他很悲慘。他有最好的醫生和護士，但仍得不到解脫。我意識到在這個世界上，好的身體抵得上所有的金錢。因為即使你有百萬美元但身體糟糕，也不能做你想做的事情。因此我想說的是關心你的身體，對你所擁有的一切感到高興，不要為掙錢損害你的身體。健康更重要。
Which is more important, health or wealth? It is a hot topic among people. I can hardly answer this question. I didnt realize that health is more imporant until I saw a businessmans real life.
A successful businessman, one of my fathers friends, devoted himseff to his business. He works from morning to night every day. There is no weekends in his mind. He often says, "I must earn much money so that I can get what I want. "Lately, he is ill. Though he has a lot of money, he can do nothing but lie in the hospitals bed.
So I think health is more important than wealth. People can do nothing if they are always in poor health, let alone happiness. No matter we are rich or not, we can not ignore the importance of health.
健康和財富哪個更重要?這是人們常愛談論的一個話題。我以前回答不出這個問題，但是現在從一個商人的真實生活中我意識到健康更重要。
我父親的一位朋友，一個成功的商人，全身心投入到他的工作中。每天從早工作到晚，在他心目中根本沒有周末的概念。他經常說：“我必須多掙錢，這樣就可以想干什么就干什么。”近來，他病倒了，除了躺在醫院病床上，什么也不能做。
所以，我認為健康比財富更重要。如果一個人身體總是不好，他什么也做不成，更不用談幸福了。不管我們貧窮還是富有，都不能忽視健康的重要性。

English is the most popular language in the world, and it is also most widely spoken of all the language. It is mother tongue in many important countries, such as the USA,England, Australia and so on. In India, Though it is not the mother tongue, it ‘sthe important offical language.
In China, English is spoken as an important and useful foreign language. The 2008 Olympics will be hosted in Beijing. Many foreigners will come to China. We should try our best to serve the Olympics. For example, we can help the foreign visitors if we learn English well.
