it happened during my first year in my junior middle school.
one evening, after supper, i went out for a walk with several friends. on the way we saw a few americans coming towards us. when they came near, i said good night to them. they smiled and answered good evening. after that we talked for a while.
on my way home, iwas curious to know why they didnt use the same epression. so as soon as i got home, i looked the epression up in the dictionary. only at that time did i know that good night shouldnt be used when people met in the evening. good night is an epression used when people depart in the evening instead good evening is the very greeting epression.
這件事發(fā)生在我初中一年級的時(shí)候。
一天晚飯后，我和幾個(gè)朋友一起散步。在路上，我看到幾個(gè)美國人迎面走來。當(dāng)他們走近的時(shí)候，我對他們說：“good night”。他們笑著對我說：“good evening”，之后我們聊了一會兒。
在回家的'路上，我好奇地想他們?yōu)槭裁床挥孟嗤谋磉_(dá)方式呢。一到家，我就在詞典中查找這種表達(dá)方式。直到那時(shí)我才知道good night不能用于晚上人們相遇的時(shí)候，它是人們在晚上分別時(shí)的一種用法。相反“good evening才是正確的問候方式。
