A window is opened up at the crack of dawn, beside which one man is overlooking the the mess of buildings outside, breathing the fresh air cosily. But just after a little while, he steps to his seat, staring at the computer screen till the night. This man is very likely a programmer.
There is a man who concentrates on his computer, but doesn’t care about however he dresses, or even whether he washes his face.
There is a man who has a good knowledge of computer language, but has a low EQ and makes a bad relationship with others.
There is a man who stays at home and does his own work by himself day and night, but just has few friends.
These images shown above probably are what people think of programmers as, in fact, programmers indeed give us a bad impression sometimes. However, people just have a partial understanding of programmers’ life, not to mention that they can know the fun of programming. There is no doubt that programs affect all aspects of our lives in an obvious or potential way, especially they are reflected in electronic products that we use nowadays.
When you are so proud of possessing an iphone, you’d better remember that it is the program that makes you get confidence to show off the advanced mobile phones thoroughly.
When you take advantage of computers to cope with problems in life, you’d better remember that it is the program that makes you seek the convenience of computer.
When you needn’t worry about hot summer and cold winter owing to an air-conditioner, you’d better remember that it is the program that makes you share the machine’s intelligent.
When you release your pressure by playing varies of online games, you’d better remember that it is the program that makes you enjoy the great entertainment in life.
As people’s thoughts control their bodies, computer programs play a leading role in the modern times. Both Social progress and human evolution depend on the computer programs. In the practical application, a software consists of different programs and then combines with hardware to develop into a high-tech Electronic product. There are many kinds of electronic products found everywhere in our daily life. Nearly all the time do we make use of these products to conduct our passion.
Yes, it is definitely right that programming is a hard work because of its special characteristics---complicated, time-wasted, logical. To make a program needs our continual patient and confidence, and we should accept failure again and again in most cases. But once you go into further understanding of computer programs, you will be surprised at the programs’ wander. In detail, through programming a heap of date or a computing model can be easily solved we expected, such as a number wanted, or the model’s parameters. The magical power of program appeals to all the programmers, certainly including me.
It is of great convenience for us to simplify or model our complex questions by programming. Furthermore, studying and using programs can enforce us to form our ability of analyzing and logic. Computer language has its regular grammar. How to organize the language into a reasonable calculating method in a high efficiency like speaking easy-understanding and breath-saving words, is an awful challenge for us, and it will be very funny.

Now, software is more and more important in our life, therefore programmer becomes a popular profession, which is one urgent need in the society. For our country, it’s very important to ensure our national security from others, such as Japan. Enhancing military strength makes us pay more attention to the informationalized war that attached intensely to the fundamental function of program and software. It is truth that China has a huge population of 1.4 billion, which means messy things from all the people every day. Also, to govern the society orderly all benefit from information composed by programs.
Take a more closer example, in the classroom, we are graduate students of engineering, and will be occupied in researching and designing work. Thus, not only is programming our tool in study, but also become a weapon that promoting science and technology and producing invention and innovation.

Good morning, everyone. May you all have a good mood. As we all know, the day before yesterday was Christmas. I think everyone enjoyed the day very much. Obviously, Christmas is a western festival, but Chinese people give it a new meaning, that is “safety and happiness”. And today, the topic of my speech is The Phenomenon of East-West Cultural Integration.
First, Let us know about the origin of Christmas. The name Christmas is short for Christ’s mass. A mass is a kind of church service. Christmas is a religious festival. it is the day we celebrate as the birthday of Jesus. There are special Christmas services in Christian churches all over the world. But many of the festivities of Christmas do not have anything to do with religion. Exchanging gifts and sending Christmas cards are the modern ways of celebrating the Christmas in the world.
Now, Christmas has been very popular in China, especially among the young people. Global integration not only promotes the international business trade, but also affects the people's traditions and customs of different countries and regions. Just as the American people have accepted the gloable food culture, Chinese young generation are also absorbing the western culture, for example Christmas. In addition, Valentine's day, Thanksgiving day and fast food, are also very popular.
In my opinion, there mainly are two reasons to expain that why foreign festivals are becoming more and more popular in China. For one thing, each festival is full of strong cultural color. For another thing, these festivals are filled with human interest.
In addition, American fast food culture has the same situation with western festivals. Fast food is very popular in China. People like to eat fast food, especially children and youngsters. Fast food means restaurants make food quick and people eat food by their fingers. Now, it is permeating to traditional Chinese culture. Nowadays we can see a lot of fast-food shops in China like KFC and McDonald and so on. And it is so popular that you even cannot find a seat to sit down to eat what you bought at lunch time. In China almost everyone likes eat fast-food for its good taste and we regard the shop as the place we can talk with our friends how the things stand. There are some reasons for its popularity. Firstly, there are a variety of fast-food that we can choose what we like. There are hamburgers and pizza. Secondly, recently an increasing number of people concentrate more on health than taste. And the fast-food in China is not like those in foreign countries. It adds lots of nutrition and several useful things into the fast-food. Not only for it, but also for its reasonable price and delicious taste. Thirdly, it can save much time so that you can spend this time shopping. What’s more, we can taste all kinds of food from different parts of the world with soft music and can do homework with our classmates.
Everything needs to adjust to the society with the changes of time and space, and culture makes no exception. Especially when it compromises into another culture, the origin will also change. As mentioned above, the Chinese food sold in the United States,
whose waste is different from local Chinese food. In the same situation, the ways of Chinese people celebrating western festivals are very vary from American traditional ways.
Generally speaking, I think cultural integration has a lot of advantages. Do you know Haier? It makes full use of the Chinese and foreign cultural integration in the implementation of market strategy to meet the different needs of different types of people. The Western food culture greatly enriched the Chinese people's eating habits, to stimulate China’s consumption, and promoting economic development. You can not deny it. Consequently, Cultural integration can help us to create such a colorful world. As to everyone, we now live in a time what cultural integration has produced a great influence in.
However, cultural independence is also of great significance. In this way, it can protect and inherit their own culture. A well-integrated nation can better keep the unity and stability of the country. The trend toward globalizations encourages international exchanges and integration of cultures. If all nations integrated into one, the world would be monotonous. The world is interesting and colorful because of its diversified cultures. Multiculturalism encourages tolerance and understanding among diverse groups in a society, thus promoting stability and development. All ethnic groups should be allowed to maintain their unique characteristics.
I’m with the view that in this modern world, the culture of any nation cannot develop in isolation. And I believe that different cultures should learn from each other’s strengths to offset their own weaknesses. Of course, the culture must withhold its own distinctive national characteristics in its extensive exchange with other cultures. Cultural exchange, I think, is by no means a process of losing one’s own culture to a foreign culture, but a process culture, of enriching each other’s national cultures.
Modern means of transportation, telecommunication and mass media have shortened the geographical distance of the world. The international community appears to be no more than a global village, in which peoples of all nations experience the inevitable cultural exchanges clashes, while seeking common development in a harmonious and respectful relationship.
