1. give/lend an ear to someone傾聽某人的心聲(常用以表示同情)
例句：He tried to give a sympathetic ear to thepatient.

2. turn a deaf ear不加理睬、充耳不聞
例句：He turned a deaf ear to his mother's chatter.
他對母親的嘮嘮叨叨聽而不聞。
3. fall on deaf ears未被理睬、未受重視

4. talk one's ear off喋喋不休，絮叨個不停

智能手機smartphone
Microsoft Corp. and Nokia Corp. on Wednesday announced an alliance that will bringMicrosoft's Office and related software and services to Nokia smartphones.
周三微軟公司和諾基亞公司宣布建立聯盟關系，微軟將向諾基亞的智能手機提供Office套裝軟件和服務。
在上面的報道中，smartphone就是我們現在流行的“智能手機”。Smart在該詞中的意思是“智能的，智能化的”。我們現在有smart card (智能卡)，smart dust(智能微塵——具有電腦功能的超微型傳感器)等。
和smart相結合的詞多和“聰明、靈巧”相關，如smart drink是“智慧飲料”(有益智功效的.混合飲料)，smart mob是“聰明暴民、快閃族(指通過手機或其他方式聯系后聚集、集體行動等的一群人)”。但是有的和smart沾邊的詞就沒那么幸運了，像smart-ass是“自作聰明的人”，而smart mouth則是“說話放肆的人”。
另外，smart還可以解釋為“時髦的”，例如smart casual就是“休閑且時髦的服飾”。
