The development of China has been a fast paced phenomenon that is rapidly changing the society. This has led to what many are calling the development gap, where some are able to share in the new lifestyles and others are not. This is especially true of the countryside, where living conditions are in many ways carried out in the same circumstances as they were in their fathers' time. People still use old agricultural techniques as scientific agriculture is costly and even unknown. Although the government has taken steps to fix this problem, it remains a difficulty as country dwellers are the majority of the population in China. This only heightens the differences between urban and country dwellers. Reinforcement is added when those in the city view the habits of their country counterparts. The education gap is noticeable as is the hygiene difference which urban dwellers are quick to point out. Because of the income differential, workers are coming to the cities in ever increasing numbers. There, they have few skills and little education so many end up in city construction jobs or doing the non-ideal jobs for others in business. Reeducation and training are needed in both the country and the city so that those who have been left behind might catch up.

中國發(fā)展的快速步伐正迅猛地改變著中國社會(huì)。這導(dǎo)致了許多人所說的發(fā)展差異。一些人能夠適應(yīng)新的生活方式，另一些人卻不能。這種現(xiàn)象在中國農(nóng)村尤為明顯，當(dāng)?shù)厝说纳顮顩r在很多方面都與他們的父輩如出一轍。人們還在使用原始的農(nóng)耕技術(shù)，因?yàn)楦呖萍嫁r(nóng)業(yè)的成本高昂，甚至不被人所知。盡管政府已經(jīng)采取措施解決這一問題，但因?yàn)檗r(nóng)村居民占中國人口總數(shù)的絕大部分，所以這仍然是個(gè)難題。這只會(huì)加大城鄉(xiāng)居民生活的差距。當(dāng)那些城市居民看到農(nóng)村居民的生活習(xí)性時(shí)，這種差距便更加被加強(qiáng)了。教育差距也很顯著，同樣顯著的還有衛(wèi)生差距。這一點(diǎn)城市居民很快就能指出。由于收入的.差距，涌入城市的工人數(shù)量不斷增加。他們沒有什么技術(shù)，接受的教育也很少，因此很多人最后只能在城市里作建筑工人，或給其它做生意的人做不太理想的工作。農(nóng)村和城市都需要再教育和培訓(xùn)，這樣那些已經(jīng)落后的人才有可能趕上來。
