　　1. You better not break ranks. 你最好不要拆大家的臺。?break ranks 解散隊列，潰散；散伙

　　2. I was very dejected. 我沮喪極了。

　　3. I only received the results at the eleventh hour. 在最后關頭我才收到了成績。?at the eleventh hour 一天被劃分成二十四個小時，這里指一晝夜的最后一小時，表達的意思就是：在最后時刻(或關頭)，在危急之時，在還來得及的時刻

　　e.g. He arrived there at the eleventh hour. 他剛好到達那里。

　　4. You laid it on with a trowel. 你太會拍馬屁了吧。?lay it on with a trowel 抬舉，竭力恭維，過分夸獎，肉麻吹捧

　　5. There’s safety in numbers. 人多安全。

　　6. She started to launch a charm offensive. 她開始施展魅力攻勢。?charm offensive （討好對手等的）魅力攻勢。帶有一點貶義色彩。

　　7. Don’t let success go to your head. 不要讓勝利沖昏了頭腦。?go to one's head 沖昏頭腦；使自負，得意洋洋。

　　字面上看是通向，延伸到某人的頭部。可以這樣理解：一個人在獲得成功勝利或某種地位時，這種優越往往會爬到頭頂，沖昏了大腦。

　　8. Stop shedding crocodile tears. 別假惺惺的'。

　　9. That’s a special pleading. 那是強詞奪理。?special pleading (只提有利于自己的事實的)詭辯法，特殊辯解

　　當某人在想盡辦法，試圖勸說你去做某件事時，常常會用到special pleading，而此時通常只說那些支持他觀點的論據。
