It is true that people with better education are usually able to get better paying jobs. In other words, they have more chances to choose a good job while people with little or no education don’t. It seems that the purpose of education is to make people get jobs. But this isn’t accepted by all people.
Some people may think that a person should spend the best years of his life getting education only for a way of living. This was probably one of the earliest reasons of education. In fact, if education is just a way of making a living. People don’t need to spend so much time in school. People can get education for a living in a short time. Subjects like history and geography need not be taught to everyone. Even language and mathematics need not be taught in detail (詳細(xì)地), either. Here it is clear that education is much more than teaching a man to get a way of living.
Education is well-rounded and it is mainly for improving a man. It is not only to teach him to speak, read and write, but also to develop his creative thinking and other abilities. After that, it is to make him a wise man and thankfully enjoy the achievements of human. Education is to make a man lead a better life. Educated people are expected to be able to listen to good music, read good books, watch plays and most of all take an interest in the world.

Dream culture is an important part of ancient Chinese culture. Dream interpreting(理解)is popular in China, and the most famous reference for dream interpreting is the book of Duke of Zhou Interprets Dreams.
Ancient Chinese people thought that dreams could suggest lucky and unlucky things. Since different dreams have different meanings, people can get meanings of good or bad luck by interpreting them. Actually, dream interpreting is not totally a superstition. It does have some scientific value.
● Dreams are the reflection of the facts. Many dreams are actually something about what happened in the daytime. This kind of dream can be easily understood without dream interpreting.
● Dreams are the body’s self-implication (自我暗示). Traditional Chinese medical science says that dreams are connected with the health condition of humans’ bodies. When Yin and Yang are imbalanced, dreams come into being. If someone dreamt that he or she was roasted by a big fire, it shows he or she might easily get angry or nervous.
● Dreams are usually different from the facts. It means that things will develop in the opposite direction when they become worse.
To some degree, Duke of Zhou Interprets dreams is scientifically reasonable. Over thousands of years has passed, the book still has many secrets waiting for us to explore.
51. According to the passage, dream culture .
A. is important in ancient Chinese culture
B. is unimportant in foreign culture
C. has no scientific value
D. is something about God

A. excited B. relaxed C.nervous D.bored
55. Which of the following is WRONG according to the passage?
A. Duke of Zhou Interprets Dreams is a book about dream interpreting.
B. When Yin and Yang are not balanced, you dream easily.
C. Dreams sometimes are the opposite of the facts.
D. There are no secrets in the book Duke of Zhou Interprets Dreams
第二節(jié):根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,從A-F選項(xiàng)中選出能概括每一段主題的最佳選項(xiàng)。選項(xiàng)中有一項(xiàng)為多余項(xiàng)。
A. A sense of humor is not an inborn ability.
B. A sense of humor can be developed in our life.
C. A sense of humor helps us from several aspects(方面).
D. A sense of humor means more than telling jokes.
E. A sense of humor can be expressed in many ways.
F. A sense of humor helps people to enjoy life better.
56. As awareness(意識(shí)) of the benefits(好處) of humor increases, most of us want to get all the laughs we can. It seems that almost every day there is another new discovery about the power of humor to help us physically, mentally(精神上), emotionally, and spiritually. Every system of the body responds to laughter in some important or positive way.
57. Many people mistakenly believe that we are born with a sense of humor. They think that when it comes to a sense of humor, “either you’ve got it or you don’t.” this is false. What is true, however, is that the ability to laugh and smile is actually something we are born with. For example, we laughed when we are tickled under the arm, even without thinking about how to react.
58. The parts of the brain and central nervous system that control laughing and smiling are mature(成熟)at birth in human infants(幼兒), but that is not the same thing as having a sense of humor. (After all, when a baby laughs in a small bed, we don’t rush over and say, “That kid has a great sense of humor.”) Your sense of humor is something you can develop over a lifetime. Don’t be nervous before others and try to laugh at yourself – then you will make them laugh too.
59. Humor includes a lot more than laughing and joke telling. Many people worry needlessly that they do not have a good sense of humor because they are not good jokes tellers. More than jokes, a sense of humor requires being willing and able to see the funny side of life’s situations as they happen. In fact, one of the best definitions of a sense of humor is “the ability to see the non-serious element (元素) in a situation”.
60. There may be a thousand different ways to express your sense of humor, but joke telling is only one of those ways. As more discovered about how humor benefits our life, more people will be able to see and enjoy the humor when they are in a difficult situation. Life depends on air, food and water, but it is made easier to live with a good sense of humor.

Then carefully put the glass over the candle until the top of the glass rest on the dish. Look at the water in the glass, what can you see now? Yes, the water rises! Do you know why?
As the candle burns, it uses up oxygen in the air. You know oxygen? In Chinese, it means 氧氣. When the candle stops burning, it has used up all the oxygen in the air. The water inside the glass then rises. How far did the water rise? There is about one-fifth oxygen in the air, so the water rises and fills about one-fifth of the glass.
