二、詞義辨析：
know,learn,comprehend,understand
這些動詞都含“懂，知道，明了”之意。 know普通用詞，多指通過學習、經驗或他人傳播而得到知識，含直接知道的意味。 learn通常指通過他人而獲得消息或情況，側重從不知到知的變化過程。 comprehend側重熟悉了解的過程。 understand指對事物已有徹底的認識，不僅知其性質、含義和細節，而且了解其內外的關系。

1.其后一般不直接跟不定式，但在以下情況可接不定式：
(1)后接“疑問詞（why除外）+不定式”。如：
I didn’t know what to say.我不知道說什么。
We don’t know when to start.我們不知道什么時候出發。
他會彈鋼琴。
誤：He knows to play the piano.
正：He knows how to play the piano.
(2)表示知道應該要做某事。如：
She knows not to tell anyone about it.她知道不該告訴任何人。
比較下面兩句，注意其中的how的有無和意思的變化：
Does heknow to comehere first?他知道應該先到這兒來嗎?
Does he know how to come here?他知道如何到這兒來嗎?
2.比較know與get[come]to know：前者意為“認識”，是持續性動詞；后者意為“開始認識”，是終止性動詞。如：
We’ve known each other for 10 years.我們倆認識10年了。
We got to know each other ten years ago.我們倆是10年前認識的。
3.know之后可接不定式的復合結構，主要句型為：
(1)know+賓語+to be（to be通常不省略），這類句型可轉換為that引導的賓語從句。如：
I know him to be a fool.=I know(that)he is a fool.我知道他是個傻瓜。
(2)know+賓語+to do（有時可省略to），在這類句型中know一般只限于用過去時或完成時，通常譯為“聽說過”“見過”等。如：
I have never known her(to)tell lies.我從未聽說她撒過謊。
I’ve never known her(to)be late before.我以前從不知道她遲到過。
在被動語態中，不定式必須帶to。如：
He was known to have a quick temper as a boy.人們都知道他在孩提時代脾氣暴躁。
4.比較：be known as, be known for與be known to：
(1)be known as意為“作為……出名”。如：
She waswell known asan excellent dancer.她作為一個杰出的舞蹈家非常有名。
(2)be known for意為“因為……出名”。如：
He is known for his poems.他以他的詩出名。
(3)be known to意為“為……所知”。如：
He is known to everyone.大家都熟悉他。
