However, Quaker Company's income increases more quickly. What is the reason? First, Quaker Company spends much more money in advertising. I suggest we advertise on BTV, the most popular broadcasting station nowadays. Secondly, we should enlarge the scope of our after-sales service. 此外考生在備考和考試過程中還應根據題型使用正確的閱讀方法：
1.略讀法(skimming)：略讀就是有所省略地讀，而不是逐字逐字地讀。不要花時間去琢磨難句和生詞而要把握文章的總體輪廓，領會文章的大意或中心思想。在閱讀時，考生可有意識地讀取段落主題句(topic sentences)，而段落主題句又可匯成整篇文章的中心思想。一般來說，主題句往往在各抉的段首或段尾。
2.掃讀法(scanning)：掃讀法也稱為查讀法(fast reading)、尋讀法(searching reading)、捷效閱讀法(expeditious reading)。這種方法的目的是找出某些特定信息或回答閱讀理解題需要的事實及依據。在對通篇文章疏而不漏的快速掃描中，迅速定位信息點，而和內容無關或關系不大的部分則可一帶而過。
3.研讀法(scouring)：研讀法又稱細讀法(reading for full understanding)。研讀法是指在閱讀期間仔細研究篇章內容，不僅要掌握文章的大致內容，還要清楚了解和理解篇章涉及的一切細節。如在做BEC Vantage完形填空題時就應采取這種方法。
閱讀第一部分應試技巧―搭配題
(一)題型介紹
BEC Vantage閱讀第一部分屬于搭配題，要求考生將7個問題(Question 1一7)和4段文章(ABCD)進行搭配。考生閱讀文章后，根據文章提供的信息與7個句子進行搭配。4段文章總長度約為250～350字，大多是一些簡短的商務廣告，如培訓課程、產品介紹等。
(二)解題技巧
這部分考題主要考查考生查找特定信息和具體細節的查讀能力(scanning)，但有時候個別句子會考查考生掌握文章主旨的能力。做這類題目時一定要仔細閱讀句子和4段文章的關鍵部分，尤其注意形容詞和副詞，這常常是判斷一個很難決定歸屬的句子該歸于哪篇文章的重要依據。此外，考生還應注意以下幾點：
1.縮小尋找范圍：首先看清楚、讀懂7個句子，之后找到它們所涉及的內容在文中的位置，這樣可以減少閱讀量，節省時間。
2.注意字句的形式變化：在文章中尋找答案的難度很大程度上取決于考生對字句的形式變化的認識能力。需要注意三種形式：第一種是同義、相同的詞或詞組;第二種是近義、相似的詞;第三種是同義、有很大差異的詞或詞組。如：department stores=department stores(第一類)：joinedby=linked by(第二類)：walkways above and below the ground=over-the-street crossings andunderground walkways(第三類)
