Sometime in the next century, the familiar early-newspaper on the front gate will disappear. And instead of reading your newspaper, it will read to you. You' 11 get up and turn on the computer newspaper just like switching on the TV. An electronic voice will distribute stories about the latest events, guided by a program that selects the type of news you want. You' 11 even get to choose the kind of voice you want to hear. Want more information on the brief story? A simple touch makes the entire text appear. Save it in your own personal computer if you like. These are among the pre- dictions from communication experts working on the newspapers of the future. Pictured as part of broader home-based media and entertainment systems, computer newspapers would unite print and broadcast reporting, offering news and analysis with video images of news events.
Most of the technology is available ( 可用的 ) now, but convincing ( 說服 ) more people that they don' t need paper to read a newspaper is the next step. But resistance to computer newspapers may be stronger from within journalism.
Since it is such a cultural change, it may be that the present generation of journalists and pub- fishers will have to die off before the next generation realize that the newspaper industry is no longer a newspaper industry. Technology is making the end of traditional newspapers unavoidable.
Despite technological advances, it could take decades to replace newsprint with computer screens. It might take 30 to 40 years to complete the changeover because people need to buy com- pugers and because newspapers have established financial(財(cái)經(jīng)的) interests in the paper industry.
{TS} What is the best title for this passage?
A.Computer Newspapers Are Well Liked
B.Newspapers of the Future Will Likely Be on Computer
C.Newspapers Are out of Fashion
D.New Communication Technology

It might take 30 to 40 years for computer newspapers to replace traditional newspapers, be-cause________
A. it is technologically impossible now
B.computer newspapers are too expensive
C.there is strong resistance from both the general population and professional journalists
D.traditional newspapers are easy to read
It might take 30 t0 40years to complete the changeover because people need to buy com—puters and because newspapers have…

D.they have been trained to write for traditional newspapers
從文章第三段…it may be that the presentgeneration of journalists and publishers will have to die off before thenext generation realize that the newspaper industry…
Reading is not the only way to gain knowledge of the work in the past. There is another large reservoir (知識(shí)庫) which may be called experience, and the college student will find that every craftsman ( 工匠 ) has something he can teach and will generally teach gladly to any college student who does not look down upon them. But the demonstration (示范) and report of what happens, and how it happens are correct even if the reports are in completely unscientific terms (術(shù)語). Presently the college student will learn, in this case also, what to accept and what to reject.
Another source of knowledge is the vast store of traditional practices handed down from father to son, or mother to daughter, of old country customs, of folklore (風(fēng)俗). All this is very diffi- cult for a college student to examine, for much knowledge and personal experience is needed here to separate good plants from wild grass. The college student should learn to realize and remember how much of real value science has found in this wide, confused wilderness.
{TS}In the last paragraph the phrase "this wide, confused wilderness" refers to_______
A. personal experience
B.wild weeds among good plants
C.the information from the parents
D.the vast store of traditional practices

Most of you would probably say that what makes you truly happy is your family and the love you share in your relationships, and I couldn't agree more. But money comes into play in those relationships.
When I talk about money this way to a group, there is always someone who comes up to me and says, "Suze, you are so wrong. Money isn't the key to life--this is!" At which point their wallet flies open and they show me a photo of their family.
That's when things get interesting, because I start asking them questions: Did you take that photo with your own camera? It looks like a beautiful beach, was the photo taken on a family vacation? Do you hope to help those beautiful boys and girls go to college?
As their answers are"yes", I ask them how they provide all of that for their family. That's when they understand that I had it fight. I totally agree that family and friends are of great importance to our well being;without meaningful relationships, there's no chance of ever being truly happy. That's why, every Saturday night, I end my CNBC show with the following words:" People first. Then money. Then things. " How we deal with the money we have also plays into our happiness. Over the past few decades(十年), the percentage of Americans who say they're happy hasn't changed much, while at the same time the average income has doubled. So we have more money, but we're not much happier on average.
A paradox(博倫) ? Far from it. My sense is that while we're making more money, we arent't making more of the money we make. We have to pay for a lot of things, and we have to worry about saving for retirement(退休) in a way that our parents and grandparents never did. And as many of you know, it's really hard to increase your happiness when you've got a lot of money worries.
Do you agree, or am I way off base? I'd love to know what do you think about the money/happiness connection.
{TS} Why do people often show the author their family photos?
A.They hope to show money is very important.
B.They want to prove they can afford a holiday.
C.They think a good family makes them truly happy.
D. They believe a happy person considers people first.
