作為一門規(guī)范化的考試，PETS-4考試緊緊圍繞著大綱進(jìn)行命題。同時(shí)，由于其特殊的社會(huì)功用和使命，其命題方面也顯示出一些程序化的跡象，雖然考查內(nèi)容千變?nèi)f化，考查話題靈活多變，但是仍有不少規(guī)律可循。考生把握這些命題的規(guī)律，進(jìn)行有目的，又針對(duì)性的復(fù)習(xí)，必然能起到事半功倍的效果。
規(guī)律一：以貼近實(shí)際功用為主旨，考查的主題有限
PETS—4聽力考試三節(jié)的考查內(nèi)容雖然不同，三節(jié)中各自的考查形式也不確定，有可能是獨(dú)白，有可能是對(duì)話，但是都具有生活化和應(yīng)用性強(qiáng)的共同點(diǎn)
。對(duì)話內(nèi)容多貼近生活實(shí)際，考查的場(chǎng)景多為考生日常生活中常遇到的情況，因此，同一個(gè)場(chǎng)景反復(fù)出現(xiàn)的可能性極大。考生應(yīng)該對(duì)往年的真題進(jìn)行反復(fù)消化，熟悉歷年考過的場(chǎng)景對(duì)話。獨(dú)白內(nèi)容多為學(xué)術(shù)性或者應(yīng)用性強(qiáng)的短文，因此，獨(dú)白部分題目出題思路單一，題型固定。考生只要熟悉每類題型的出題點(diǎn)和解題方式，進(jìn)行有針對(duì)性地記憶，在此類題型中一定能夠取得高分。
規(guī)律二：考查考生理解和推斷的能力
PETS-4級(jí)聽力考試考查的是考生對(duì)英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)的理解。在考生能夠聽懂聽力原文的基礎(chǔ)上，還要求考生能過對(duì)原文中的部分事實(shí)進(jìn)行消化理解和推斷。我們發(fā)現(xiàn)考試大綱中所列的功能意念表和語(yǔ)言技能表，是PET-4 聽力考試的重點(diǎn)和依據(jù)。為了順利解答聽力考題，考生需掌握如下聽力的考試技能：
1. 在考試中，能聽出材料中具體的事實(shí)性信息。如一些物品名稱、商品價(jià)格、事件發(fā)生時(shí)間、事件發(fā)生地點(diǎn)、參與事件發(fā)生的人物等。
2.在考試中，能依據(jù)錄音材料，判斷出事件發(fā)生的背景環(huán)境、推導(dǎo)出事件參與者們的關(guān)系以及事件的最終結(jié)果等。
3.在考試中，能根據(jù)錄音材料中的關(guān)鍵詞、特殊語(yǔ)氣詞、材料中的過渡詞、說(shuō)話者升降調(diào)等理解說(shuō)話者的意圖、觀點(diǎn)或態(tài)度。
4. 在考試中，能從全篇對(duì)話或獨(dú)白材料中理解文篇的主旨和要義。
規(guī)律三：考查最基礎(chǔ)，最常規(guī)的英語(yǔ)基礎(chǔ)知識(shí)
PETS-4聽力考試由于其強(qiáng)烈的實(shí)際運(yùn)用導(dǎo)向，其考查重點(diǎn)放在了最基礎(chǔ)，最常規(guī)的英語(yǔ)基礎(chǔ)知識(shí)之上。我們?nèi)粘？从⑽碾娪昂团c外國(guó)友人交流時(shí)可以發(fā)現(xiàn)，實(shí)際英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)中運(yùn)用到的詞匯，句型，語(yǔ)法知識(shí)是整個(gè)英語(yǔ)知識(shí)體系中很少的一部分，因此，考生不需要很扎實(shí)的英語(yǔ)知識(shí)功底，只要能夠?qū)谡Z(yǔ)中常用的表達(dá)方式和詞匯有一定掌握，就能夠在聽力考試中取得好成績(jī)。
